My room used to be cluttered with "industrial-style" furniture. They had the look, but they felt dead—mass-produced items masquerading as artifacts. I wanted something with actual vitality.
The Charm of Linear Shafts
During an experiment, I stumbled upon linear shafts—precision components usually hidden inside 3D printers and CNC machines.
The moment I assembled a few shafts using specialized connectors, I was captivated by the minimalist structural beauty.

PHASE 01: CHROME
At first, the mirror-like shine was stunning. But raw edges lacked plating, and the exposed steel began to rust within days. It looked cheap and neglected.
PHASE 02: 304 STAINLESS
The true soul of industrial design. Its honest, brushed texture and deep luster are water-resistant, rust-proof, and consistently cool to the touch.
PHASE 03: THE ULTIMATE 316
Arguably overkill for indoor furniture, but for someone pursuing the absolute ultimate in integrity, that "extra" cost is the price of peace of mind.
When Steel Meets Frosted Acrylic
Metal was too oppressive; wood lacked the modern chemical reaction. The breakthrough happened the moment I slid a thick sheet of frosted acrylic into the frame.
The light diffused evenly, reflecting off the curved metallic surfaces. That breathing quality instantly infused the hard-edged framework with a sense of "futuristic technology."

Why was WhaleFrame founded?
While the finished product brought me immense satisfaction, the months of trial and error left me exhausted. The struggle of hand-cutting and the search for suppliers were eroding the joy of creation.
I founded WhaleFrame with a simple mission: To standardize the complex logic of linear shaft assembly.
I’ve distilled my obsession with stainless steel, my aesthetic for frosted acrylic, and months of tolerance testing into a single system. This is a modular framework that allows anyone to skip the tedious labor and directly experience the joy of precision customization.
